Complaint lodged against Honey Rose for her non-cooperation with film

Director ‘Salangai’ Durai has lodged a complaint with the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) saying that Honey Rose, heroine of his upcoming film titled Kantharvan, wasn’t cooperating in promoting the film ahead of its theatrical release.

The 24-year old Honey Rose, who has mostly starred in Malayalam films but has featured in films in all the four languages in South India, plays the heroine in Durai’s Kantharvan in which she has been paired opposite Kathir. Kantharvan has now gone into its post-production stage.

Talking to newsmen recently, Durai said “It’s a huge challenge to make small-budget films and release them in theatres as very few distributors are willing to take up the release of such films. Even people seem to be indifferent to the prospect of watching small-budget films on big screen. Hundreds films, which have been completed, are lying in cold storage for want of distributors and theatres to release them. Action ought to be initiated to release those films and to light up the lives of the producers and artistes concerned.

“I invited Honey Rose to appear in the promotional events of Kantharvan. She remains ‘out of touch’ and doesn’t respond to phone calls and even boycotted the film’s audio-launch. It was very tough for us to publicize the film in the absence of Honey Rose. I have complained to the Producers’ Council demanding action against Honey Rose as she had been paid her full fee for starring in the film and still boycotting the promos.

“Kantharavan has turned out to be a solid entertainer. ‘Ganja’ Karuppu, ‘Kadhal’ Dhandapani and Nellai Siva are part of the cast. Kathir would be flooded with more film offers after this film releases and does well in theatres,” concludes Durai
