Actress Sona Heiden has opined that women should take to politics in a big way to cleanse the world of politics. “I’m very much interested in politics and would be active in politics after I turn 40,” said the 34-year old actress.
Speaking to newsmen on the eve of elections, the sexy Sona touched upon many topics. “I feel that the upcoming elections are very important for women. In a country which is as male-chauvinistic as India, the elections take place at a very significant period. Due to the dominance of men in all sectors, atrocities against women are on the rise.
“We come across instances such as the Delhi medico and the Chennai IT girl’s rape and murder. In the past year, the instances have only gone up despite the people being very aware of such things. Politicians only talk about it and aren’t taking concrete action. If India implements stringent punishment as is done in Arab countries, atrocities against women would come down drastically.
“Women should be in politics in large numbers and should only vote for the party which respects and gives prominence to women. I want to serve womenfolk by entering politics in a few years from now and work tirelessly for women’s empowerment,” said Sona amid rumours in the press that she would soon start campaigning for AIADMK candidates.
