Santhanam justifies his hero avatar for Vallavanukku Pullum Ayudham

Comedian Santhanam has justified the reasons for him playing a full-fledged hero in his home production Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham, which is his second film as a producer after the successful Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya. While Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya was based heavily on K. Bhagyaraj’s Indru Poi Naalai Vaa, Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham is the Tamil remake of S.S. Rajamouli’s 2010 Telugu super-hit fim Maryada Ramanna.

Santhanam plays the sole hero in the film for which he has worked hard to shed his weight to look slim. Speaking about his third attempt at playing hero, Santhanam says “I never aspired to become a hero, utter punch dialogues and bash up a gang of ten. The script of Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham is such that only a comedian can play the lead role in it.

“He would have to look innocent besides indulging in a bit of heroism from time to time. Most of the lead heroes won’t take on such offers while a newcomer won’t be able to do full justice to the script. That’s why I decided to play the hero myself. For this film, I haven’t attempted more than what I usually do.

“I am also not being over-confident that the audiences would love whatever I present to them on-screen. Each and every sequence has been carefully penned and canned. The film would have plenty of interesting aspects and would be loved by the masses,” he said.
