When one rises on the popularity ladder in Kollywood, his/her humility should increase on par with the fame. If it doesn’t, criticisms are sure to be hurled at him/her from all quarters. This is what exactly happened with Sivakarthikeyan, who delivered a hat-trick of successes last year in the form of Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga, Ethir Neechal and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam.

The audio-launch of Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming film Maan Karate was held at the Sathyam Cinemas premises yesterday, the same venue where the audio-launch of superstar Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan was held a week ago. The ‘bouncers’, who had been employed by Sivakarthikeyan and the producers, humiliated the celebrities and journalists who were at the venue to attend the function.

Starring Sivakarthikeyan and Hansika as on-screen pair for the first time, the film has music by Anirudh Ravichander. Usually, audio-launches are attended only by the film industry folks. However, Sivakarthikeyan had brought many of his fans in order to show his ‘star-value’ to the press but forgot to make adequate arrangements to ensure that the journalists are treated property and with dignity.

Even during the audio-launch of Kochadaiiyaan which had security arrangements befitting a chief-minister’s programme, the dignitaries were treated properly. Invitees to the event were prevented at the entrance; a few of them retreated and quit the event while many others, who had proper invitation cards but were denied entry, stood for a long time outside the venue.

Except for Vijay TV camera crew members, the bouncers allowed comfortable positions to none to cover the event. A.R. Muruagadoss, one of the producers of the film, is known for his simplicity but is said to be the one who brought the Mumbai bouncers’ culture to Chennai. Sivakarthikeyan needs to do some urgent PR work to arrest the slide in his image.
