Manorama hospitalised after complains of chest pain

Veteran actress ‘Aachi’ Manorama was hospitalised at Apollo Hospital on Sunday evening after she complained of chest pain. The 70-year-old actress was rushed to the Apollo Hospital on Greams Road, after she complained of discomfort in the chest. She is likely to undergo an angiography, said hospital officials.

“All the tests have been taken and the doctors are likely to perform an angiography to rule out cardiac arrest”, said her son Boopathy.

Born as Gopi Shantha, she made her debut in silver screen with the role of a comedienne in Tamil film Malayitta Mangai in 1958. In 1987, she entered into the Guinness of Book of World Records for acting in more than 1000 films.



The evergreen comedienne who has acted in more than a 1,350 films and has given more than 6000 stage performances, has won Padma Shri (2002), National Award for best supporting actress for Puthiya Pathai (1988) and Tamil Nadu Government’s Kalaimamani Award. Recently the actress has sung a song for a new film which she is currently acting in.
